In designing the frieze-like composition of my monumental painting “Walk of Life”, I came across an old toolbox in the skip (dumpster). The shape of the trays and the random colourful rhythms helped me to devise the way the eye could move in my larger work.

I was inspired by Vincent Desiderio, who for his massive painting “Sleep”, painted on the same format, did lots of abstract studies of Michaelangelo’s figures.
